2020 was an unexpected year, different in every way. At times bitter, in others just plain empty. The accentuated distances and virtual relationships gave rise to an unexpected, random feeling, an uncertainty that has finally been transformed into something new and concrete. Our connection to the land, to the Maremma, and to its lifeblood, could be felt as all the more stronger.
The Bolgheri territory, the influence that the sea, light and wind has on our wines created a spark: we had to make these impressions real, we had to recount the uniqueness of these places. This we embarked on a very interesting collaboration with animation video artist and director Emanuele Kabu who, with his distinctive touch, was able to bring our thoughts to life.
The land, sea, and light of Bolgheri reinterpreted through Emanuele Kabu’s creative “filter”, are transformed into an ever-alternating kaliedescope of colours, signs and rhythms.
The perfect balance of animation over three “surreal” videos, harmonized by sound designer Marcello Batelli.
The first, A place suspended in time, is a portrait of Bolgheri’s soul. A representation of a place and a space which, through its “suspended” character, survives the passing of time without changing.
The second, Feed your roots, wear your crown represents how our wines are bonded to the land, and how the influence of the sea makes them unique. Deep roots come together with the flow of creation, manifested in the company logo: a 4-pronged crown.
Finally, Embrace the Sapaio ritual, in which the “wine” universe transforms each phase into a ritual that is repeated throughout the journey.
A journey manifested in many forms, over the time and space of Sapaio, and in which the influence of the infinite is above all else.
