With seven labels including Podere Sapaio<\/span>, the latest fruit of the appellation of origin, Bolgheri conquers all.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201c\u201cThe bird that goes there loses its feathers \u2013 so a popular song recounts the Maremma, which until a few years ago evoked grim memories of swamps and malaria. Who would have thought that right here, a wine destined to become a legend would be born.\u201d<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is how The Gentleman<\/a> starts its story on Bolgheri, and its protagonists \u2013 primarily from Sassicaia<\/strong>-, that was declared first of the DOC reds, and how a courageous idea has changed the fortunes of an entire region.<\/p>\n

\"PODERE<\/a><\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t until 1944 that the first Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines were planted in Maremma, where even Sangiovese could hardly bear fruit, and it was then a matter of decades before it came to be of value.<\/p>\n

Fortunately Sassicaia\u2019s reputation grew and it became a real driving force behind the territorial evolution of Bolgheri, which today, with more than 40 wineries, is a land of excellence and experimentation. Podere Sapaio<\/span> and its red wines (Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc with Petit Verdot) is proud to have claimed 16th place this year, and to be above all, a part of Bolgheri, a veritable jewel and a credit to Italy throughout the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
